Coral Gables is an interesting school market. The public schools here are Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and the quality varies. But the concentration of excellent private schools in and around Coral Gables is one of the best in all of South Florida. Many Coral Gables families default to private school and this is supported by the proximity to multiple top-tier institutions.

Top Private Schools

Ransom Everglades School is the most prestigious private school in Miami and it is located in Coral Gables. This K-12 college prep school is one of the top private schools in Florida. Tuition is significant ($35,000-$45,000/year) but the academic outcomes are exceptional. The school’s presence is a major draw for families choosing Coral Gables.

Gulliver Preparatory School, also in the Coral Gables area, is another top private option with preschool through high school. The Cushman School, Epiphany Catholic School, and several other faith-based and independent schools round out the private landscape.

Public Schools

Coral Gables Senior High School is one of the better public high schools in Miami-Dade, with IB and other advanced programs. George Washington Carver Middle School and Coral Gables Preparatory Academy are the main middle and K-8 options.
