Life in Weston: Town Center, Parks, Dining, and the Day-to-Day Reality
Weston was designed to be self-contained and it largely succeeds at that. The Town Center is the social hub, the parks are excellent, and the community events calendar is active. Whether you find this charming or confining depends on your lifestyle preferences.
The Town Center
Weston Town Center is a walkable commercial district with restaurants, shops, a movie theater, a wine bar, and various services. It is designed to be the community gathering point and for families with kids it works well. The dining options include a range from casual to upscale - Duffy’s Sports Grill, Casa D’Angelo (fine dining), various casual chains, and independent spots. For Weston residents, this is where most socializing outside the home happens.
Parks and Recreation
Weston has one of the best parks systems in Broward County. Regional Park has athletic fields, a water park, and event space. Emerald Estates Park, Tequesta Trace Park, and Indian Trace Park cover the neighborhoods. The Weston Hills Country Club and Bonaventure Country Club provide golf and tennis. The parks are well-maintained because the city invests in them.
Community Culture
Weston has a strong sense of community, driven partly by the HOA structure and partly by the school system that brings families together. The social scene is family-oriented - kids’ activities, school sports, neighborhood watch, community events. If you are single or do not have kids, Weston is a quiet place to live and does not have much to offer socially.
The Drive Situation
Weston is in southwest Broward, which means everything is a drive. The beach is 30-40 minutes. Downtown Fort Lauderdale is 25-35 minutes. Miami is 40-50 minutes. You are very close to the Sawgrass Expressway which makes the west side of Broward highly accessible but the east (beach) is always a drive.
